Forgot the shot.....

I did a dumb thing today. I was at the club patterning my 20 gauge smoothbore for our upcoming turkey season. I prefer simplicity so my shot loads are made using wadded Hemmings paper and paper shot cups with pre weighed shot charges. Gives me decent patterns out to 25 or so yards. Well I don't know how I got side tracked but I fired this one charge and man no recoil at all. I thought maybe I didn't load enough powder or something. I know the load exited the bore because I saw the wadding fly out. I even dropped the ramrod down the bore just to make sure. Then it hit me, "holy cra p I forgot to load the shot cup"..... what a dumbarse! Glad I was the only guy there ! Embarrassing.
