I'm new to this game - what's a 'normal' price for one of these in a 1/2" to 1" bore?

I'm afraid I've gotten infected and want one. You guys are a bad influence.
Admittedly, I got lucky. That .75 bore on my hearth ran me $400 and the custom matching carry/storage box we made a deal for was another $400. The guy was making them in his garage shop and I got wind of his work.
Include a couple of four hour round trips to complete the deal.

Maybe, but there are bargains to be had everywhere every day as long as you're paying attention and are willing to just make it happen.

One of mine. Father made these in the 70's.
1" bore, about 30" long.

The biggest problem with cannons is finding storage space. A full size field gun takes up a whole garage stall, and it's too heavy to push/pull around to store in the house. A naval carriage cuts things down considerably, except the weight of the tube.

Check out d carpenter at cannonfab. Com. He can build you a nice little cannon for a much better priceIMG_20210818_170703_8.jpg
