Fair weather friends? I think you'll find many of us using a flinter no matter what the weather is...sign me up Jethro.

Swampy,
He may be referring to me cause I used a capper for the young/old match. I need to shoot my FL more so this way took away my option of using the cap gun in case I feel lazy at the range. I'm slowly trying to switch to all FL, but haven't done it yet.

I started hunting up there in Weatherfield just outside of Springfield btw. Miss those green mountains...

I was born in Springfield, spent 40+ years with ten miles of there, wandered many of those green mountains ... I miss them too...

Small world, we had a camp, 200 acres across the road from Wellwood Orchard. The bump on the ground we were on was called "Camp Hill" after a command that camped there during the Revolutionary war. Unfortunately it was sold to some yuppys from Conn who cut it off and turned the place into a horse farm. :shake:

If I ever get my treking gear together I'll post some pics to take you both down memory lane. OR..Better yet, I have a spare bedroom and November hunting season is right around the corner. Either of you are welcome to come and stay. I'm in St. George, 15 min. south of Burlington.

Appreciate that Vt but I'm not sure yet that I'll even get to hunt here this year due to an ongoing medical condition that seems no end to. I missed last season and hope to hell I don't again this year. :shake:

I'm hoping to get back to see my Father & Brother in Chester this thanksgiving . . . not sure if there will be time for hunting, but thank you for the generous offer, spent some time down in Shorham too, on the lake!

As an old fart I shot my flinter in the other match. I just bought a like new "Buffalo Hunter" cap gun today that is going to need some powder burnt in it, so I'll shoot a cap gun in this match.

I just gotta know, is the Duck Inn still open in Springfield?

No, that has been gone for quite some time now . . . probably 20 years now . . . a real estate office and chinese restaurant is there now . . . well at least four years ago when I moved!

Jethro, put me down on your flintlock team, if you don't mind. Sometime soon I will be killing 4 aliens with it, so, I may as well shoot in this "Old Fashioned Ignition Throwdown" too!

Skychief.

Went friday and shot. This was the first time I have used a bullet block and my groups have at least doubled in size. O well I have a chance to go next week after a Dr. appointment and try again.......................watch yer top knot..............

Count me in on both. It will give me a good excuse to shoot my Brown Bess and my 1816 Springfield.

Team Flintlock better look out. I got my TC .45 sighted in Monday and I was shooting nickels off a fence post, no joke. The bad thing was I hit them square so they flew off into the tall grass.
