I recently picked up this flintlock pistol. It looked to me like someone's project pistol (which still needs a fair bit of work to be honest), but I thought I would enjoy it so I grabbed it. I just wanted to make sure that before I go about trying to fix it up and shoot it that it isn't some kind of rare or collectable pistol and / or didn't belong to George Washington or Lawrence of Arabia or something.

Hi,
It is not antique and is not a poor copy of a Harper's Ferry pistol. It is likely an inexpensive Spanish made pistol that started out as a "Tower" British pistol but was altered by somebody. It has no historical and little intrinsic value so have at it.
