I put off buying a Flintlock for a long time and finally took the plunge about 4 years ago. Invested the money and bought a "Family Heirloom" quality rifle. Hopefully my descendants will treat it as such. Anyway, under the current situation of cap availability, I am so glad I made that purchase. Having the option to shoot either percussion or flint takes the worry out of where my next cap is coming from. Thankfully I have a year or two supply of caps right now if I rotate between Flint and percussion throughout the year. Hopefully within that time the market will recover.
