Perhaps it's only we who can appreciate (the) certain "beauty" of the intricate arms delivering their smoke and light show. It's a lot like watching the beauty of a lightning strike.
 
In most cases these cameras are taking video at 60 frames per second in slow motion. You have pan flash in one frame and the ball has left the barrel in the next frame, 0.0167 seconds later. That's consistent with Larry Pletcher's time line for a fast lock.
