Since the weather is cold and nasty, I pulled out my first longrifle build. Did the project in 1982 and shot it until the next longrifle build. and the next and the next.
The first rifle had a mixture of parts, each bought when extra money was available. Cherry wood stock, Green Mountain 42" barrel, Trigger by ??, flintlock by DGW.
Pulled the lock for function check and noticed that the bridle moved when the mainspring moved.

Tightened the screws until the bridal no longer moved but it was so tight that cocking the hammer was very difficult. Could try to fix but....

Decided to bite the bullet and order a replacement flintlock. TOTW has a direct replacement, made by L&R. Now the wait for the new lock begins.

It's winter and the snow is deep and I hate cold hands while loading the flinter. An idle mind is the devil's workshop, or something like that.

How far are you going to go with the redo? Just the lock or are you going to do woodwork as well? I redid my first build and although it looks better it still has numerous architectural flaws :surrender: A at least it's a good shooter  And as always, we like pictures :hatsoff:
