Something else from the gunsmith's estate sale. The beginnings of a wheel lock. Just the stock and barrel. The stock is dense plain maple and is 27 inches overall. It is profiled to shape and nicely inlet for the barrel and tang. The barrel, if I had to guess, started life as a single shot .410 barrel. It is now .50 cal smoothbore and 19 inches long. It is round on the bottom for the full length. The breech end is octagon 7/8inch tapering over
5&1/4 inches to 11/16 then going to 16 flats for 2 inches and ending in a wedding band finial then tapering from 11/16 to 5/8 at the muzzle. It has two lugs for pins soldered to the underside of the barrel. Wish the lock had been a part of the sale I'd build it myself. Anyway if you are feeling the urge here is a good start on your project. Asking $125 that includes shipping in the CONUS.
