My thing is you can see the brass on the other side of his rifle which would have been between the gun and his coat which was never seen by the cameraI know photos can be easily mirrored these days. I ended if it is as simple as that?
Looks to be an 1842 harpers ferry rifle. It's a right-hand rifle being held by a left-handed soldier and the negative is reversed. No military of the period is going to make a left-handed rifle.
Wild how it works at times I reckon
Now that I’ve seen the picture flipped around I see it.Get out your favorite musket, hold it to your left side, then stand in front of a mirror and you'll see exactly what this photo is.
Try it again holding the rifle to your left side. Now that I’ve seen the picture flipped around I see it.
I actually just stood in my bathroom with my right handed rifle and it still looked the same I guess I should have taken a pic to see if it changed.
It works when I take a picture in the mirror holding on my left. Just by looking it looked like a right handerTry it again holding the rifle to your left side.
There's a famous photo of "billy the kid" with an 1873 Winchester,, same thing,, it shows the rifle as a lefty,, they never made one,Wild how it works at times I reckon
I’ve seen it also haha. There's a famous photo of "billy the kid" with an 1873 Winchester,, same thing,, it shows the rifle as a lefty,, they never made one,
Maybe he was,, but the rifle he had in the photo wasn't,That's why the photos of Billy The Kid make him look left handed.
