My CVA .45 Kentucky build is done and she is a beauty! Thanks to everyone that pitched in with their advice. The original/build post can be found here if anyone is interested:

Finish: ~6 coats of tru oil polished with Colortone fine polish over Behlen American Walnut Stain and Colortone black grain filler
Barrel: Sanded to 400 grit then rust blued with ~11 coats of LMF coated and finished with Barriacde followed by Ren. wax.
Brass hardware was wet sanded to 2000 grit and polished with white rouge (except for the front sight which was only sanded to 600 grit)

(FYI - I wasn't trying to go for historical accuracy in any way, just what looked ascetically pleasing to me.)

(Also threw the before picture in there for reference)

While your rifle did not start out as a high dollar kit, your work has made it into a high quality rifle for the money. I have always thought the CVA percusion were a good rifle for the money
