It's not a mountain rifle, the mtn rifle has 2 wedges this rifle has only 1, it does have the mtn rifle sights both front and rear.

Is this a gun you have used yourself? If so what kind of accuracy do you get with round balls. What powder load and ball size do you use? Thanks!

I shot this gun prior to listing it and found 50 grain of FFg, .44 ball and .015 patch gave me a consistent group at 50 yards. If I were keeping the gun I would adjust the sights, but for me it's shooting dead center two inches low currently.

I am rather surprised it hasn't sold.

Not like we are getting any sidelocks from CVA anymore. They have moved on to in-lines. Nothing in the sidelock family is available.
Traditions isn't offering much in the way of sidelocks anymore. You want an Ardesa made rifle finding them is becoming difficult.

These CVA Hawkenesque half stock rifles are pretty good shooters.
