Hey guys and gals! Got myself laid up for a couple few weeks with a bum neck and am looking for a project to keep myself from going nuts. I'm missing out on a little pay, so I'm not looking to purchase a kit. I've been digging on smoothbores lately but my pedersoli 1795 is just too cumbersome for the woods (at least for me). I was checking out a pedersoli trade gun and the bess trade gun from dixie, just for the woods, but can't bring myself to spend $1k plus, being outta work for a while. So I'm thinking of cutting down my 1795 to about 30"-32", browning the barrel, and attaching sights. Anybody have any reason why I shouldn't? I haven't been coming across any redcoats to bayonet lately, so a full size musket just isn't necessary for deer/turkey/small game. Talk me out of it!

It’s your gun, you get to do with it what you want.
Smoothies are just too much fun.
And we know some got sawn off, but
Even if we can’t prove such a gun existed who cares, your the boy that’s having fun
Just watched a you tube video on a charley cut down to a trade musket. Same basic gun
