I've got a pair, but was thinking of selling one off to get something else. What are people's opinions of the current value?

As a additional note to add to "Zonie's useless information pile", Remington made these pistols with brass frames with a brass spur trigger sheath (1st model), iron frames with a brass spur trigger sheath (2nd model) and iron frame with an iron spur trigger sheath (3rd model).
They were made starting in 1865 and continued production thru 1873.

Nothing useless about your information … at all. Keep providing. Polecat

OK, stupid question time. Why are they known as 1863 Models? Is this a modern misnomer like the "1858" Remington (New Model Army/Navy) revolver?

Regards,

Jim

According to Flayderman's Guide, the barrel markings on most of these pocket revolvers are"

"PATENTED SEPT. 14, 1858 MARCH 17 1863/E. REMINGON & SONS, ILION, NEW YORK U.S.A./NEW MODEL"

I haven't found any information about the 1863 patent.
