I have a tool with a similar blade that was used to clean horse's hooves.
I have no horses, so I only need one of these...
Ya it is similar to a farriers knife. Most of them I’ve used have the top of the blade almost double back like this

I have never seen a mocotaugan with that blade profile.
I used a mora equus hoof knife before I got some proper crooked knives. I
 
FWIW:
From what I've read, the Farrier's knife was used to remove stones; pebbles, and minor infections from horse hooves when reshoeing. The Mocotauquan or "Crooked knife" was more of a furniture makers knife. If you want all the specs. on a true Mocotauqan, look at page 35 of the Museum of the Fur Trade's "Fur Trade Cutlery Sketchbook" by James A. Hanson. All the same info. on the Farrier's knife is available in that book on pg. 34
It's one of the best books I've seen for recreating PC knives of the 18th. and 19th. century.
Again, just my $0.02 while we're on the subject.
