Johnannes: There are a couple of groups in Saint Augustine, Florida that reenact that period. They have a big event coming up June 1 & 2, called "Drake's Raid." Here is a lnk to one of the group's websites. The Men on Menendez, and Searle's Buccaneers might also be able to be contacted through the "Fountain of Youth Park" in St. Augustine. Most of these guys are getting up there in years with fewer venues for reenactment each year.

Perhaps one of these groups can get you in contact with Bradenton surveyor, Tim Burke who once headed up a group called "Calderone's Company." He was the quintessential conquistador reenactor on the Florida living history scene.
I have a conquistadors vs. Aztecs chess set that cost me $40 on eBay. People down in MesoAmerica have an economy where they can produce very inexpensive hand made materials.
I don't want to sell the chess set, just saying you can get artifacts, cooking utensils, and so forth from the third world pretty cheap on eBay.
