CMC pepperbox

I recently acquired a CMC pepperbox replica and found it had loads in three barrels. I've successfully removed the ball and powder but the bores are still dirty and I suspect the percussion chambers have fouling in them. Is it ok to wash them out with soap and water or is there a better solution to clean them out?

There's no better solution for cleaning black powder fouling than a bit if soap and water followed by a light wipe of rust inhibiting lubricant.
