Last trip to the range for the year today. Got there early and within an hour and a half it got crazy busy, and I mean crazy. Myself and another regular both shook our heads and left earlier than we usually do. These are the same types of people who when challenged for bad behavior get on line and leave bad reviews about our club range, they seem to come back though. I sure wish they wouldn't.
Anyway I shot my Medina Hawken .50 built for me by Joe Corely back in 1983. It has a Montana Rifle Barrel Company barrel and is a sweet shooter. My big surprise was a Springfield Hawken .50 I packed along at the last minute. It keeps popping up when I sort through my shooting hardware, I can't recall the last time I shot it. I have another that is a good shooter with a barrel marked 1 in 66, this one has no markings. Anyway I loaded her up with 60 grains of Jack's Powder Keg (Goex FFFG), a cast .490 RB and cut ticking patch lubed up with good old spit. Here's what she did at 25 yards from an improvised rest, six shots without wiping between shots. This one might be going on the chopping block soon, I did a partial inventory yesterday and I'm way overloaded.
