This is the way I do it. The brush works perfectly in .45, .50 and .54 caliber barrels. And you will never stick it.

A piece of copper tubing slightly smaller than the bore, and longer than the barrel, forced down over the brush would be an easy way to remove a stuck brush. :eek:ff
 
Well, they're all useful. I mounted the biggest one on a 3/8" dowel for cleaning my 12GA Pedersoli double. One of the small ones stays with my .22 Ruger MK-I auto for use with Hoppe's No. 9.
