My Great Grandfather is on the right. I have no idea what kind of muzzleloader he's holding.
The unmentionable on the left may be a Flobert.

the guns intrigue me, i admire the working men, but the old dog makes my heart swell and tears form in my eyes!

Awesome pic!! Can you take an educated guess as to when this photo was taken (by his age perhaps). This is very interesting to see that caplock rifle in use alongside a cartridge rifle.
