Pretty good variety of impacts there Boone. Not to be gruesome, but if they did come from a battlefields [I accept your word], someone that has recovered those bullets from hunting could probably tell which ones were likely "hits". Now those would be relics ! Quite a few straight on mushrooms that caught my attention based on experience from recovered, non WBTS bullets. SW
ya , i’m kinda new to relic hunting, These were found by malvern hill area . A friend of mine is getting me more into it. I’m still learning. Any information is always welcome

Well, looks like you are off to a really cool start. Other than my observation above, from where I am in MT, I can't offer too much more help. The closest battlefield to us is from the Nez Pierce War at the Big Hole battlefield and does not involve the WBTS other than the fact that many of the players for the Federals had fought in that war. [Btw, the Indians won that round so the field is pretty sacred to them. As it should be.] Nice that you can still go picking around some of those locations. Any digging around at our battlefields could end in a trip to the pokey. Holding some actual artifacts in the hand while knowing the history can really set the mind to imagining what went on where you are standing [or kneeling, even better] when you find them. Post more when you find things. Very good stuff. SW

For some reason I'm thinking of horseshoes.Maybe cause it's Sunday and we (church members) frequent a Mexican restaurant called Herraduras (horse shoe). There were thousands of cavalry horses during the Civil War. And from what I understand keeping cavalry horses shod played a big part in later Union victories. After all a lame horse couldn't be that effective. Is there a way to tell an old shoe from a more modern one?
