Recent participation on several of the Civil War forums shows that there is some enthusiasm by members who just may be "buffs". Buffs just may have some sort of a collection. We'd be curious to see what civil war relics you may have. From what I've read on this forum there are some authentic

rifles from that era owned by members. But it need not be guns only. Anything a soldier (or civilian) may have carried or had his hands on.I'll start this thread off by showing some Confederate Money. (Or at least attempt to send a photo)

I have a couple, a $5 and a $10, plus a CS bond that have been passed down in the family.
Oh yeah, I forgot about my bonds. I have 3 bonds that I could have included in that picture. As for what Confederate money is going for, I really couldn't say I haven't bought any lately but I would imagine more than face value for the lower bills under $100.00. I kind of plan on a $500.00 (the one with Stonewall Jackson) someday. Depending on the condition I think it's valued at a little under $500.00.

One of my $10.00 is similar but I also have another from 1862 that has a "Trans-Miss" stamp on it. Gen. Kirby Smith had some of the older notes stamped so they could be reissued to his soldiers. After the fall of Vicksburg new money was next to impossible to issue West of the Mississippi River.

You see white flags were so rarely used they weren't issued to just every unit like the North did. In fact when Lee wanted that "talk" with Grant at Appomattox they couldn't find one. His staff had to improvise , so they used a dish towel on a stick .
