I was given a Kindle for my birthday and found this book in the Kindle store for free -- Civil War Experiences under Bayard, Gregg, Kilpatrick, Custer, Raulston, and Newberry, by Henry C. Meyer. This guy joined the cavalry in New York City as a private and went on to become a Brevet Major, was wounded twice and awarded the Medal of Honor. It's a well written account by a guy who fought at Brandy Station, Gettysburg, the Wilderness and Petersburg. One of the best personal accounts of the war I've ever read.
