Checked the balls for size today

Loaded up a couple of cylinders in each today to see if I’d get that nice shaved ring of leaf.

The Walker and both of the 1860’s were fine with .451, the 1851 was fine with .380

Not sure I’m happy with .320 in the 1849, not much of a shave and the loading ram actually pulled the ball back out on the second chamber. Thinking maybe I should have gone .323

Sir, you need bigger balls....for your 1849!

I know about that.. If I don't use .457 with my Walker it pulls the balls back up like with your 1849 and barely shaves any lead.

I was surprised with the Walker, really thought I was going to have to go up to .457

Edit - the .44 balls are .454, not .451
