Hi everyone, I'm brand-new to the forum and this is my first post. I recently acquired an original Charleville musket and bayonet from an estate sale and I'm struggling to properly identify it further, i.e. model, time period, when it may have come into the country, etc. Eventually, I hope to narrow down a time when it likely entered this country. I've attached a number of pics that I hope will help the experts here determine what it is. Any help is appreciated!

Thanks! The screw holds a spring to retain the ramrod, that explains why it's there. I don't recall having ever seen a setup like that before on a Charleville but then I don't remember when I last saw an original.

We mostly shoot reproduction arms. You need an antique arms dealer- most run ads in Men at Arms Magazine (published by the NRA))

Round-faced locks, short trigger guard, both date back to the model 1770 but that model lock had a facetted pan if I remember correctly. The rod retainer is from the later model but just like the barrel band retaining springs on the model 1766 the French would frequently update their existing models.
