Cap Question.

What is the difference between #10 and #11 caps. I feel this is something I should know, but do not recall.

So, there is a difference in size. Evan between brands. Might boil down to which fits the best and gives the best accuracy.

Ok, found more info in the Dixe catalog. Should have known to check there. It's a wealth of information.

basically 10's where for revolvers and 11's where for pistol/rifle.
But these day's there is no "standard" size, each manufacturer has their own tolerance.
But nipples for ML's are sold as fitting #10 or #11 caps,, and as you've found #10 are smaller then #11,,
,so buyer beware.

The #10's fit snug on my nipple. So I bought an extra tin of them at Fort Chambers yesterday. The forecast for tomorrow is rain. I may end up loading the percussion for the first day of buck here in PA.

Here’s a sampler of #11 caps that work well on any of these guns. I prefer the Remington caps as if needed I can pinch them down a bit for other guns.

How's come it is showing the Rem. #10 being bigger than the Rem. #11?
