It’s good that you’ve soaked it. Probably just a little crusty from age. The sight should be knocked out left to right and installed right to left. This is the drift tool I use for that purpose. It’s 3/8” brass rod, about 4” long. I filed it down so that the extended ledge sits on top of the sight base to stabilize it. As long as you have anything like this, put the barrel in a padded vise with the sight centered and use your drift, left to right, with firm but controlled hammer taps.
Ditto -- A highly respected gunsmith many here are familiar with told me to secure the barrel and use a 2 pound hammer with a brass rod and give it a good wack! I did and the T/C front sight came out...there was a little bit of deformity on the contact end of the brass rod. I am assuming that came from a slight angle that I must have held it at when I gave it a whack. That same gunsmith said to use Red Loctite when i was satisfied with the final position...

Got it sighted in. Love the Williams peep and Lyman Globe front. Got 19 of 20 PRBs in the red at 25 yards so .50 Renegade is good to go. The peep sight and globe turned me into a much better shooter than I am and greatly helped out my 73-year-old eyes!
