I ordered a used copy of "Buckskins, Blades, and Bicuits" when I saw the reference in the previous thread. It just arrived and looks like the kind of reading I enjoy when things are quiet. Between the info available here on the Forum, books like this, and the Townsends Youtube videos, I'm getting a fair idea of ingredients and cooking methods for the colonial and early American eras. I think the many domestic matters of the period are more revealing of people's lives, especially pioneers, than battles.
