Does anyone know: Which 1851 Navy Colts had the steel grip frames and which had the brass?
Also I have heard that the steel used was so mild that it was really iron...any truth to this?

I think the Colt factory in Hartford had 6 44 caliber "Navies" that were created as part of developing the Army Revolver.- I thought the London guns were silver plated? (trigger/backstrap)?

IIRC the experimental ones were .41 cal, not .44
