Saw an ad for a 32 Caliber Thompson Center barrel on an online auction box said new barrel so I assumed it was a kit barrel. From the photos I couldn’t see any rust and ended up betting it up to $200 when I won. Went and picked up the barrel today and was surprised to find it was a brand new 32 Cherokee barrel and not a kit barrel. I don’t have anything against kept barrels as I own several but this was just a nice surprise looks really great in the extra Cherokee stock that I had laying around that I have been looking for a nice barrel for.

Very nice, I won an auction for a Cherokee in 45, should be here tomorrow. Would love to find a barrel like this!

I took a chance on this since I could drive and pick it up but once the bidding was done I owned it but it worked out very well. I search for these on a weekly basis although I do not know why as I own a few. Remember seeing ads for Cherokee and Seneca rifles when I was a very poor teenager and wishing I could own one after reading an article in Fur Fish and Game about BP Squirrel hunting. Back then I shared a 22 single shot with my brothers who only shot occasionally so that was my Squirrel hunting gun for several years.

Those Cherokee .32 barrels were great small game guns cause they had the 1:30" twist instead of the T/C standard 1:48". You could load those .32 barrels with 10 grains of 3f and get dime sized groups at 25 yards. Great for squirrels.

Most of mine shoot 15 grains with a .315 ball and a .010 patch with Mink Oil when hunting. I sight them in at 30 yards and try to head shoot squirrels. I wont lie and say I hit everyone that I shoot at but I hit more than I miss. Has become my favorite way to hunt. I have a 32 Seneca that also has the 1 in 30 twist that I hunt with 90 percent of the time and then a 32 Cherokee. My 36 Seneca sits at home except for an occasional trip to the range.

Thanks like I said gonna leave it unfired and keep shooting my other 32 Cherokee and Seneca. There is a 32 Cherokee on EBAY right now that the owner has stripped and is selling the parts individually would cost $1,800 to buy it and put it back together. Makes me sad knowing that there are folks who would love to own it but cant put up that kind of cash to piece it back together. But on the bright side they could spend less money and get a really nice Kibler kit.

T/C Cherokees are delightful little rifles, and you are truly "walking in tall cotton". You got yourself a real bargain.

Yep Hanshi I am pretty happy to add another one to the coral. I keep saying I am going to stop buying them but every time I see a nice one thats reasonable I cant help myself. Having my first custom build done so that might change my buying habits
