Good afternoon:

Any good recommendations on historical references about the buffalo hunters? I have the Buffalo Hunters by Sandoz as well as The Great Buffalo Hunt by Gard. Both are quite dated and I'm just wondering if there is anything else worth a read. I have a pretty good library of firearms specific references and am looking for something more of the lifestyle and times.

Thanks in advance

About the best that I've read was The Buffalo Harvest by Frank H Mayer and Charles B Roth (published in 1958, so it may be hard to find this 96 page book). It is full of actual history ( or as you say, lifestyle and times) and is an easy read. Note the quote "Never tell anybody that you are a buffalo hunter... that brands you as a tenderfoot. Refer to yourself as a buffalo runner"

Thanks for all the recommendations. I found a couple of the titles and look forward to reading them.
