Kult of Athena, a replica sword store, has a nice looking Boarding Cutlass replica of the M1803, (I think) British cutlass. The US Navy wound up with some after the War of 1812, I believe. It has the checkered iron hilt and is a classic style cutlass for those of us who like a little nautical decor in our dens!
It was the Pattern 1804, but you were REAL close. I owned a P 1808 cutlass years ago that differed so slightly, some folks call it a variation. That was back in the 1980's when between marriages, I collected cutlasses and Infantry/Marine NCO swords of the 18th and 19th centuries.
