My Club has an IMHSA range normally used for a monthly handgun match on metallic silhouettes from 25 to 100 yards. Some of us put our heads together and decided to hold a match on that range for muzzleloaders. We had the simple rules of shooting offhand using traditional rifles loaded with roundball only.

It was a perfect day weather wise (I could have shot better) and we had six brave souls come out to try their hand on the steel. The steel targets were challenging and a lot of fun. We had chickens at 25 yards, pigs at 50 yards, turkeys at 75 yards and rams at 100 yards.

GaryPL used his home built .40 caliber flintlock and proved that the .40 caliber roundball will knock a ram down at 100 yards. By the way, he is very good with that rifle and won the match. The pic of him is just after he pulled the trigger on a steel target. Also, those stupid turkeys at 75 yards are tougher than they look. They just ain't shaped right to get a good aim.

Hey! I like this idea. I shoot BPCR Silhouette and I've been wondering if we could do something like this with flinters.
