Just rendered a ton of bear fat last night. I want to waterproof my hunting frock ( leather ) and wasnt sure if i should use the bear oil/lard as it is or mix in some beeswax.

Wish that was in my fridge. I think you should save that for patch lube and use something else for weatherproofing leather.

I've got some bear lard around here and also a very small bottle of oil. I have a supply of fat handy and would like to know what the process is for the very clean gun oil. Is what's in your fridge oil or is it going to stiffen into lard?

I would not use it. It will get sticky at ambient temps. Use mink oil instead.

On one of the Alaska tv shows a native woman used bear oil to waterproof boots. Used straight. FWIW from a tv show.
