i have a 50 cal traditions st louis style hawken should i rebore it to 54 cal or buy a new barrel?
Hah, we are always eager to help. I too wonder if Hoyt could or would be willing to debreech that system. Maybe he can re bore without disassembly.well you guys gave me the reason to buy another rifle thanks![]()
Be good to yourself at Christmas just in case Santa forgets youwell you guys gave me the reason to buy another rifle thanks![]()
The rebore will almost certainly be cheaper and faster. If it has a hooked breech it will still fit up okay when Bobby Hoyt sends the rebored or re-lined barrel back to you.I don’t know the time frames or cost. Will a rebore be cheaper then a new barrel? How long will it take?
I can’t see an advantage of one over the other
Traditions St. Louis Hawken is an entry level rifle, so why spend the $$ on a recut or new barrel? Just buy a rifle in .54. Besides, there is absolutely nothing wrong with a .50.

I didn’t mean to disparage the St. Louis Hawken. They’re great little rifles & well worth the cost, but why not enjoy it as is (.50 cal.) & save your money for a .54 cal rifle.
