Any idea how old or what school this rifle is from?

I was offered an 'antique' 45 cal flintlock rifle and i'm pretty sure it is just an old contemporary rifle. The gun was made by L. L ashbrook in port huron, Michigan and has what looks like a tapered octagon to round 32.5 inch barrel. It looks like it's a copy of a plains or mountain man rifle but im not exactly sure. I found an antique pistol with the same trigger so I included it. I cannot get more clear pictures than what I have here.

I think you flipped your pictures. The close up of the lock shows it RH flinter. The full length shows it LH. Just saying.

Call Kenockee Trading Post they are right outside of Port Huron, MI. Anson and Judy Morgan own it they are on the board (or were) for the NMLRA and have owned their muzzleloading shop there for about 40 years now. Anson taught a great many classes building ML’ers and knows just about everyone that is associated with ML’ers In the area. That’s likely your best source to get more info. Hope this helps. I was born and raised in Port Huron.
