Unfortunately Lynn is no longer weaving. Try Kris Polizzi, she does excellent work.

Kris has a fantastic fb site with a LOT of really nice patterns. Thanks for this recommendation.

So... I will order a strap there and will get an approximate length estimate from my other leather strapped bag.

But... how do you handle the ends on these woven straps? It would seem that if you cut the ends they may fall apart? I’d like to sew a small piece of leather to the ends (I think) around a buckle on the bag but I’m unclear on how to handle the end of the strap.

I would love to see pics and hear your thoughts on how one attaches these woven straps...

For loose ended straps I tie the strands at the end of the weave, in groups of 3 or 4. Then tie two of the groups to the ring, staple etc at each end. Let the others just hang. Tied in groups of 3 or 4 right at the weave of the strap they cannot come undone.
For leather ends with leather ties you can try it yourself, or have one of our leather workers do it out of scrap. Cutfingers comes to mind. Or try dhaverstick. He does good work as well.

Thanks. I’m comfortable stitching leather by hand using a traditional saddle stitch technique. I was just worried about the woven strap material once I cut the strands off to make room for the leather “fold.” I’ve never worked with (or even touched yet!) a woven strap.
