Well, I have kit I'm working on but, ran into some issues so, also ordered a complete rifle. It showed up about 20min. ago. I got a real nice one as there are no gaps in rib to barrel, fit and finish are spot on and the ramrod jiggles in the thimbles but, is solid where it goes into stock and does not wiggle out. I can live with that! This one is a beauty and shoulders real quick and easy! Dem sqirlz is in sum trubble! 😁

I replaced my tang screw with the same size and length brass screw. I put the original screw in a safe place and now don't worry about damaging the screw head when I remove it to clean the gun. Years from now, hopeful!y, whomever inherited the gun will be able to order a replacement screw from Traditions if they are still in business. That's because nobody will be able to find the safe place I put the screw,I am not sure where it is right now myself. My memory is best at remembering things I did as a child, things from yesterday are a little foggy, dam old age!

Just got on the Midway USA Crockett Kit notify list.

As soon the Italians get over Covid, enjoy horizontal refreshments, have the babies, educate the kids, send them to trade school and get them hired on at Traditions, I may have a Crockett rifle in 18 to 20 years.

Dang it all anyway. I wish the heck my other doo-dads would show up so I can fire mine. Been a week now. Oh well, at least I got to put a patch down the barrel for now.

I feel your pain! I have everything to shoot except the weather and a place to do it at. ☕

Only issue I’ve had with mine is some wood chipping out from behind the lock, but apparently that’s fairly common with these and not a big issue.

Already got my bag and kit put together for the gun as well. Just made a straight grain hickory ramrod this evening, stain is drying on it now.

Haven't disassembled yet so, will look for those issues when I do. Thanks for posting the pics and looks like a great setup you got! Good luck with it and look forward to some success stories. :thumb:

What size RB and patches are you using, and what patch lube?

So far I’ve tried .310 Hornady balls with 0.15” thick Jo Ann’s pillow ticking with Track of the Wolf mink oil, cut at the muzzle with 20 grains of Old Eynsford 3Fg. 1” group at 25 yards. Gun did not like 15 grains. I’m sure it can do even better with more experimentation!
