Here’s another one that’s just sitting collecting dust in the safe.

It’s an older CVA Mt. Rifle in .50 cal percussion lock.

I’ve owned this gun for years , but only fired it 4 times.

All 4 holes from a standing rest clover leafed at 25 yards,
A little low and left but in a tight group.

Soon after acquiring this gun I was bitten by the Flintlock bug,
so idle it has remained.

My normal load is 70 grn of fffg and used a .490 ball.

This rifle has a 32” barrel with a 1/66” twist,
As best as I can tell, it makes 1/2 turn of the rod in the 32” length.

This one has a concave cheek rest, which I found interesting ....

It appears to be a factory made gun with a good, clean bore.

It would make a great Rendezvous gun for someone looking for a
percussion cap rifle.

$350.00 shipped to your door in the lowe 48.
This is not one of the “Made in the USA “ guns, but it’s a shooter!

Here’s a few pics ...

That’s not rust on the barrel , it just the type of finish that was used and looks almost case hardened ...

Could be just wear over the years.,
I said she was older.. lol

Thanks for looking

Just wondering how you managed to get that .530 ball down a .50 caliber bore...o_O

LOL It was a tight squeeze, with a lot of lube....

Sorry , I Shoot a .54 now , it was a .490 Hornady ball I’m quite sure.

Thank You for pointing that out before my edit time ran out , it’s fixed now.

Not originally ... I said .530 which is what I Shoot most of the time now..

He just let me know in time for me too change the error.

I just read post 1 it said 70 grn 3f and a .490 ball

Interesting cheek rest, never saw one like it. Nice rifle. I own one without cheek rest and it is a very good shooter too. Great photographs!

It has all the things I prefer in a .50 percussion. I'm interested in purchasing it.

That’s the only one I’ve ever seen like it too... but looks too have been done at the factory when it was built..

Thanks for the compliment ...
