Andrew Wurflein rifle

I happened to find this rifle in a shop last weekend and got to fond a little bit. Here are some pictures. I thought you all might enjoy it. After doing a small bit of research, I found that Andrew Wurflein was in business for quite a while in the 19th century and made some pretty nice looking rifles. The one I found, appears to have likely been a Target or sporting rifle, I think. It was 40 cal, octagon to round, and very ornate with checkering, a front globe sight.

I think it was roughly $8500. I didn't actually look at the bore because I hadn't planned on buying it. But there didn't seem to be rust or pitting anywhere on the exterior

This same gun was in a different forum back about 2015 by a previous owner. His added photos show that this fine gun of high quality workmanship once had a false muzzle and a quality tang mounted sight ( see the appropriate holes in the attached photos). My guess is that these attachments were lost years ago and somebody then did a really bad job of adding and then

moving a rear sight to be able to use the gun. I've seen many Wurfflein guns over the years and this rear sight dovetailing work is really poor compared to his work.
