This is the set I had Allen make for me back in 1990.
.40 cal, swamped Ed Rayl barrels, silver hardware. I met him at the Eastern and he had birdseye maple available and I liked his work.
Rifle is no. 11 and pistol no. 2 engraved on the top of the barrels.
The latest pictures I've seen of his work are not numbered.
The pictures just do not do them justice. It's hard to make out the carving, engraving and wire inlays.

They sure are beauties. And Mark's right. Photos just do not do his guns justice. Allan has a table at the Baltimore Antique Arms Show every year in March. He always has two or three on display. They look more like art work LOL. Yes, his tasteful use of wire inlay, engraving, and silver mounts is amazing eye candy. The ones I've seen up close, I would be too scared to take out in the field. LOL Has to be some of the most beautiful I've ever seen. Congrats on owning that set.
