I have a couple 54 T/C Hawkens they appear to be from different eras one has a cleanout plug the other does not, when did T/C stop putting the cleanouts in? I can see why they stopped the small screw is broken from someone trying to remove it, the serial number for the one without the screw is 356XXX the other is 271XXX. All the records at T/C were lost in a fire I was just curious the age of these rifles.

Doesn't really matter all that much if they are in good shape. With decent maintenance and care, T/C locks never die. The only things I have ever seen broke on one is the stock (replaceable) and a hammer somebody broke when they dropped the gun. I suppose that eventually everything wears out eventually though.
