Adding Case Color Chemical Finish to Alloy

I have a Wesson rifle with an adonized alloy receiver. Researching gun yielded several examples where finish had been removed and receiver polished bright. The same company made a half stock "sniper" version with false muzzle and receiver that had been chemically case colored. I may want to try this, but have never done this. I do traditional color case hardening but that’s done on iron based metal. Here’s one I did. I’ll be interested in any responses you get on coloring an alloy such as brass.
