I'm reading that a lot of itchy turkey hunters are out and about patterning their guns for this Spring's turkey season.

Just a reminder or revelation, depending on the recipient.....

I get a bit denser patterns as a result of taking great care to gently seat the card/wad above the shot charge.

I've found that undue pressure placed on the shot column, let alone bouncing a loading rod upon it, will open my patterns a bit and certainly cause more "fliers" outside the core of my patterns.

Crushed, out-of-round pellets don't care to stay on a point of aim trajectory, versus more spherical ones.

Like mentioned, just a random thought to share this evening.

Best of luck to all you turkey chasers. May you leave a trail of white smoke, piles of feathers and half-grins wherever you wander this Spring!

Best regards, Skychief.
