Just another heads up if anyone missed it on page 2 ,

Powder Valley has Shuetzen FFG and FFFG for $19.54 a pound, no minimum order size. Shipping was just under $13 and HazMat was $19.95. Regular price was $23 a pound , add the 17% increase on the next shipment and you're looking at almost $27 a pound. So there's no reason to be seeing posts in 3 months complaining about the price of powder.

That’s a good price, you guys need to jump on that. I don’t need any now.
Yep, couldn't believe it after reading about the upcoming price increase. I didn't really need any more but got a few more pounds just so whoever inherits my stuff after I croak can keep shooting lol. I'm definitely set on powder now.

That’s the best policy for sure.

FYI, there is a limit, IF you try to purchase over 25lbs. The site will not let you put more than 25lbs in your cart.

Is anyone familiar with Captain Brett Gibbons? He’s a writer of historical books regarding the development and use of the rifle-musket and black powder. He’s also a serving ordinance officer in the US Army.
He says that the US government buys every year a tremendous amount of black powder for artillery shells (duplex loads…the primer ignites the black which ignites the main charge).

If Goex was the only domestic maker of black powder, where is the government sourcing it? I find it hard to believe the mighty US military relies on overseas supplies
The Gov / military has to 'Buy American' and that is why they invested heavily in getting Goex back up and running. Getting Goex back up has the second order effects of securing an uninterrupted, IF they do not blow up again, supply of black powder for the various military / munitions requirements, which is a National Security issue.

You can bet you 'fourth point of contact' that if black powder was not a component in the various munitions, explosives, blasting caps, etc., for the military the gooberment would not have cared one whit or spent one red cent to get Goex back up and running.

I can attest that suppliers are making orders to all powder manufacturers
Yes. A mention in the latest issue of Muzzle Blasts states that BP is now around $40./ lb.!
Yes in the wild we are seeing powder up to $40/lb. Powder sold by the NMLRA to members is $30/lb for Swiss, and $22/lb for Schuetzen, and no hazmat fee since we sell in person. We have both in stock and more on order for expected delivery this month.

I agree.

The very last thing we want is people getting involved in politics while we try to save the shooting sports that we all love.

I'm of the opinion that we should just keep quiet, roll over, and take it since that's the direction the country is going anyway.

Why raise our voices when all it does is upset the Left.
.

The issue with this mindset is that it generally ends up you cant just be about gun rights politics, it has to be the package deal, if you like guns you have to hate gays, hate abortion, hate anybody that isnt just like you or with a different opinion about anything else, have to love our chosen one leader anointed by heaven, etc, and anyone with a different opinion about any of it hates our country and is trying to destroy it. The political influencing industry has been pushing agendas and narratives like this for years. Making it about a package deal is what runs off many people and is probably one of the most self destructive things to those concerned about gun rights.

I dont care if anyone wants to fly rainbow flags, drive a prius or whatever, who they hang out with, but if they are willing to stand up for gun rights, they should be welcomed to that camp.

And im glad to know powder is still available for reasonable prices, I should be back to shooting more by fall or winter.

I wasn't aware the government has invested heavily in Goex (Estes). Could you cite your source or post a link to this information?
Just google it, there were dozens of news stories about it.
I did indeed Google it, and here's part of what the DoD released on August 10th, 2022:
"The $3.5 million investment by the Department of Defense (DoD) will allow the facility, owned by Estes Energetics, through its Goex subsidiary, to reopen after an accident shut down production. The total cost of the project is $5.3 million over two years, and it will allow production to resume at the Minden, Louisiana facility in two years or less."
