Just received a flyer for the spring shoot. It is the Arkansas State Championship Shoot May 17, 18, 19 sponsored by The Arkansas Muzzle Loading Assn. Inc. Has a contact number for Angie Reynolds 479-747-3096. Unfortunately I couldn't find a web site.

Just got the flyer for the 59th annual Saunders Memorial Shoot. Everyone is welcome.

Also in Berryville there is a museum of old famous people's guns. It's a true treasure. http://www.berryville.com/museum.html[/quote]

Yep. Our friend Hawk, worked there as a kid maintaing the guns. Sadly, the curator died a number of years ago and his wife was hired for the job. And, double sadly, she knows nothing about being a curator. The place is in a sad state. A lot of the guns have been taken out and replaced with furniture. What I find interesting is many of the single shot pistols are underhammers.

When I started on the P.D. in '84, the curator was Bill Kirkpatrick (I think that was his name). He was an ex Texas Ranger and had many tales to tell.
Around 1985 my Lt. and I did a video taped inventory of all the firearms and it was discovered that some of the guns were missing. At that time the city had the inventory appraised at 19 million dollars. There have been several curators since then. Here is an interesting story about Col. Saunders by the local paper in 2005. http://www.carrollconews.com/story/1388524.html

That is interesting. There were many odd, even bizzare stories out of post-CW. I did not know much of that. The article also said:
He would not purchase a gun without being certain of its history.
There is (was?) a knife in there purported to be "the original" Bowie knife. I am not aware of any serious student of the subject that will agree it is "the original".
Sad about the missing guns. I'm sure there is another story to be told there but will probably never be solved. I hope things are better now than last time I visited. I'll try to get back in September.

Just got the flyer for the 60th Annual Saunder's Memorial Shoot.
It's September 24, 25, 26, 27, 2015.
The flyer is basically the same as the one I posted earlier, except for the dates.

Hope a lot of competitors and vendors make it.
