Well as is sometimes the case it did not go as planned, the old girl was moving slowly toward her bedding area and watching an empty tree stand very closely. My first "shot" was a flash, she heard it and was now wired for sound but did not spook. She was slightly quartering towards me at 35 so I tried to lay that ball tight behind the shoulder, either I misjudged the angle or she moved at the shot or a combination of those and the ball entered in front of the shoulder and came to rest just in front of the opposing back leg under the hide. Traveling about 3 feet through the deer. Took out lungs and liver so it worked well, she ran about 30 yards and went down, here is a pic of the ball and a new unfired one..
