I had a 6 bore that I fed on 3 drams & and ounze & a quarter. Ide shoot for the' Big bore bowl' prize but never wasted shot on clay pigeons , You cant eat them .I did once fire 9 drams and 3 ounze to pattern it but this was too much ( I was a teenager they are seldom sensible !)
I later had a12 bore flint gun with a 50" barrel and very stout breech I think this was some sort of Magnum thinking . The farmer who's land I shot on once remarked "We can see thee comin afoor wi can see thee" ( attempting his broad Derbyshire accent) There is advantage in fireing 12 bore loads in larger bored gun as the shot collum is denser /shorter & useful in live pigeon guns such as Felt Wad shows . If ever a man knows his duck guns its Feltwad. ( & no I don't want to borrow a quid !) . I do have an Elephant gun but its only about 6 bore . & not many Elephants in NZ so never fired it .

The lock panel should be about the full depth of the stock, Ky.
By this I mean the stock looks rather too deep and flat sided in the lock area.
Have a look at some originals, and you'll see what I mean.

All the best,
Richard.
