Picked up a .68 caliber trade gun, round barrel, siler lock serpent sideplate, pulled it apart hopefully to find some markings on the barrel but none exist, unknown maker. Nice gun mirror bore. Great price. Was wondering about the caliber, I put the micrometer on it and it is .680 . I have never seen a .68 caliber trade gun but now I know they could be out there. It does not seem to be a popular caliber at least to me. Any thoughts on the caliber chosen? Any suggestions for shot or round ball application? I figured a .678 round ball would work. Thoughts?
