Well, June got away from me but, here we go again with another shooting contest.
This months challenge is a 5-shot shooting contest. You will try to place one shot as close to center as possible and one shot as close to each corner of your targets as possible.
Center shot will be measured from the center of the ball to the center of the target.
Corner shots will be measured from center of ball to corner of target. A shot that even touches the edge of the target counts. An off-paper shot that does not cut the edge of the target still counts as a shot but is a miss. No do-overs!

Take 5 Shots, one at each corner and one at the center of a blank 8.5"x 11" sheet of typing/printer paper with an X drawn thru the center at 25 yards. If you miss, do not try again. Misses count!

One target entry per member.

5 shots per target, hit or miss.

Mutilated targets and targets with more than 5 holes will be disqualified.

No do-overs.

Only registered forum members may participate.

Only traditional, open iron sighted muzzleloading firearms (NO Cannons). Percussion or flintlock, matchlock or wheel lock ignition.

Single patched round ball only. No restrictions on caliber. (a patchless ball may be used if so desired)

Shots will be taken off-hand at the stated distance.(Standing or seated is allowed, elbows unsupported by anything other than the shooters torso)(In the event that a member is not physically able to hold his rifle up unsupported, a "prop-rod" that is supported only by the shooters torso, no part of which prop-rod may touch the ground, may be used to hold up the fore-end of the rifle)

Only original targets will be accepted. No copies, faxes, scans, etc.

The center of the target will be determined by the judge.

Judges decisions are final.

Each contestant's score will be posted at the end of the contest.

Your member screen name must be written on your targets.

Mail your target postmarked by August 8, 2016 to;

Jim Green
P.O.Box 322
Pekin, IL 61555

Targets will not be returned unless an S.A.S.E. is included.

Be safe and have fun! :hatsoff:

Yes, all members are more than welcome to participate. Please do join in the fun.
No teams on this one. Every man for himself.

Is this for rifles only,,or can I use my 51 navy?

Well, it's a rifle contest but, if you want, you can use your '51 Navy.
Smoothbores are allowed also.

I'm in! Target in the mail tomorrow.
You would think with 10 days off this month you could just belly on down to the back forty and shoot some paper but NOOOOOO.
Crops need picking. Work keeps calling. Mrs. Ames keeps....I'll stop there.
Hit my corners good but suffered a hang fire and flinch on the center shot. Still proud though. For an old dude who had to guess at where the lines crossed in the center!
Can I stick a dot on the center next time so I can see it?

Unless stated otherwise in the rules, yes.
Some members use a sticky dot, some use a really thick X. Even as thick as 2" masking tape...

Every once in a while there may be a "no sighting aid" rule so be sure to read the rules for each contest.
Usually the X is just so I know where the exact center of the target is when measuring. BTW, I make sure the X is indeed in the exact center. You can make it however big you need to so that you are able to see it, I'll use a fine line when scoring.

I haven't gone away or anything like that. Been watching. Finally healing up from the two nerve surgeries (Ulner and carpals) in the hand, wrist and elbow area of the left arm. That's a result of "In the wrong place at the wrong time," auto, accident. Big truck hit a car that ran the sign and drove it into my truck. It made it kinda hard to hold up the rifle guns but it's coming back. Hopefully I can get in the next one up.

5th of July? It's the 20th of August and [still] no results?

:rotf: I think he's been Rendezvousing again! :idunno: :rotf: :blah: :rotf:

 How did you guess?

I'm back tho and I'll get the results up tomorrow.
Anyway, I'm not THAT late. The targets only had to be postmarked by the 8th and I always give 'em 10 days past the end for the pony express to get 'em delivered... :surrender:

I'll be starting up another new contest tomorrow too.

Well, there were only three entries this time. I guess I'm not the only one that's been busy rendezvousing. :)

Here are the results;

Congrats AMES for first place with a score of 4.138" total. Good shootin'! :hatsoff:

Maven takes second with a score of 7.032"

And MDK_WV takes third with a score of 8.053"

As always, I hope you had fun shooting this contest. Thanks for playing. :hatsoff:

Congratulations Ames, Great Shootin! Thanks Jethro for the challenge. I am glad I got to come in third. It sure is better than coming in last place
