I have a modern made 8 bore and would like to find a 58 or 62 cal non-military style percussion rifle. Must have near perfect bore and crisp lock, single trigger. I hope my requirements aren't too stringent! Thanks

Good luck. We have been discussing .62 caliber rifles elsewhere on the forum. Your 8 bore sounds fantastic! Is it a black powder double rifle? A muzzleloader?

He makes them for Gun Works and I don't think it was mine, but I've only had it about 4 months. It's a beautiful rifle and shoots great, very accurate w/.825"dia PRB.

I might be able to get you a line on one cuz local gun store has a Navy arms Hunter 58 caliber cap lock Hawken.
I think they're wanting something for it but it's also the only one of that kind I've ever seen for sale around where I live of course that might be a little too far away from you or out of your price range or everything given shipping and everything else...
But it's a nice rifle and I've even debated on picking it up not sure anything about it other than apparently they were built for hunting African game that's about all I know

Roughly 600 for it

Not too sure where you're located but I mean if you're interested next time I have a little off time I could swing by and take some pictures of it it's been for sale for I want to say a year now problem is they won't budge on their price cuz if they would I'd probably buy it I just don't have much desire for a 58 caliber Hawken caplock. Now maybe if it was a Kentucky or Pennsylvania a long rifle flintlock or even a smooth bore then I'd be interested

Yeah it would have to be unfired nearly perfect condition for that price and really not what I want

I mean it looks like that but I get what you mean I just figured I'd float the idea out to you since I mean I don't picture these is very common since I never even knew they existed. That being said from what little quick look I've seen of it it does look to be in nearly pristine shape no rust anywhere on it what I saw the rifling looked really solid and clean and no black powder anywhere near the nipple or so anywhere on the gun so far as I can tell

But yeah I just figured I'd try and help you out if I could best of luck in finding one I can imagine they're not the easiest things to locate

No problem and best of luck in your searches cuz I'm going to bet it's going to be one heck of a search
